Pinellas Lodge 43
Pinellas Lodge 43 is dedicated to vigorously defending our members’ rights and privileges. We offer our members a comprehensive legal defense plan including 24 hour access to our full-time FOP counsel Kenneth J. Afienko for line-of-duty incidents, internal investigations, and contract arbitration matters. In addition, our members enjoy discounted rates on representation and consultation for personal issues as well as free will and living will preparation
Kenneth J. Afienko has more than twenty years experience in public service in Pinellas County. As a long time law enforcement officer, he brings a wealth of understanding and experience to his legal practice that cannot be found in other attorneys.
Starting his law enforcement career at the Madeira Beach Police Department, Ken retired as a Detective Sergeant after spending time as the interim Chief. Today, he continues to serve weekly in traffic enforcement for the Pinellas Park Police Department. By staying current in the field, Ken remains close to our members – understanding the issues that affect law enforcement professionals on a daily basis.
Ken began his law career in 1996 as a researcher and investigator for Rothwell and Barker, P.A. Graduating from Stetson University of Law in 1998, he began practicing with the firm’s personal injury claims unit immediately. Today, Ken maintains his own practice in the areas of Personal Injury Litigation, Family Law, and Employment Law.
Since 2002, Ken has served as Pinellas Lodge 43’s full time general counsel protecting law enforcement officer’s rights. In addition to working on collective bargaining and PERC matters, Ken represents our members in line-of-duty incidents and other internal investigations.
