Why join the FOP?
As a member of the nation's largest law enforcement organization, you are entitled to all the benefits and privileges of an FOP member at the Local, State and National Lodges. You’ll receive your national identification card each year which will list your national member number. With this number you can access the Grand Lodge, State Lodge and FOP Connect informational website.
Throughout the year our lodge offers several free and sponsored events to include our Tallahassee Memorial Trip, June Conference, and Octoberfest to name a few. Our monthly meetings take place on the third Tuesday of every month with dinner at 6:00 pm and a business meeting to follow at 7:00pm.
Our lodge is located at 550 Commerce Drive in Largo and have both a large meeting hall with full kitchen facilities and a private member's lounge which is accessible to member’s 24-hours a day. The Member’s Lounge is equipped with a games, cold beverages, poker table, television and wireless internet access. You’re welcome to bring your guests. Access to the lounge is through the “Member’s Lounge” door which is equipped with card key access.
The lodge hall is also available for rental to members at a reduced rate of $300, which includes use of all tables, chairs and kitchen facilities. I challenge you to find a better deal anywhere.
We offer you easy direct access to members of the Executive Board and Legal Counsel through an automated phone system. By calling the lodge at 586-6754, you’ll be routed to a phone tree with several contact options. Upon selecting the person you wish to speak with, you’ll be directly transferred to their cellphone. Keep in mind, like you, board members work varying shifts and may need to call you back. In the event of an emergency that requires an immediate response, we're always available at our 24-hour FOP-HELP line (367-4357). You’ll hear a brief message while our system simultaneously dials several members of our emergency call out team, one of whom will answer your call and make all arrangements to assist you.
As an active lodge member, the FOP provides you with legal representation regarding issues such as internal investigations, on-scene shootings, EEOC matters, FMLA issues, civil and criminal matters resulting from your official duties and, FDLE administrative hearings. Along with these services, our General Counsel also provides free wills to all members and their spouses. Additionally, he gives members discounted rates for legal services involving family law matters, contract issues and personal injury cases. And if you have a legal matter that he does not specialize in, he will make sure that you are referred to an attorney that will assist you with your issue.
In an effort to keep our membership up to date and informed, we maintain a website, send periodic E-mail updates and publish a monthly online newsletter.
I encourage you to join today and take advantage of our fraternal brotherhood.
