The owners of the Elixir Lounge sponsored their second annual golf tournament in October.  Their first annual tournament  last year benefited Bob Miller Middle School and raised over $2000.  This year they wanted to benefit the HPOA Charitable Foundation!  It was a great time and a good day of golf.
"No Shave November" Fundraiser

Proposed public safety bond meeting today

On Thursday, the City of El Paso will educate voters about the contents of a proposed public safety bond costing hundreds of millions of dollars. The city will make its case to El Pasoans today for a more than $400 million upgrade to the police and fire departments. The 2019 Public Safety Bond includes more than $220 million for police and $190 million for fire.
Ex-EPPD police officer sentenced in deadly hit-and-run crash

A former El Paso police officer who killed a man with his vehicle on New Year's Day was sentenced. Roberto Garcia struck Eduardo Vasquez, 37, who was walking on the shoulder of Interstate 10 in Vinton, with his personal vehicle and then drove off.

 The second trial for an El Paso police officer is underway in the 120th District Court. Mando Kenneth Gomez is facing one manslaughter charge for shooting and killing Erik Salas-Sanchez in 2015. Gomez was tried in February, but after a prosecutor collapsed in the courtroom, the judge declared a mistrial.

Deputy Carlos Ramirez was laid to rest at the Fort Bliss National Cemetery on Tuesday.  Graveside ceremony for Deputy Carlos Ramirez at Fort Bliss Cemetery The fallen deputy was an El Paso native who graduated from Burges High School. Ramirez was a U.S. Army Reserve veteran who served the Kendall County Sheriff's office for three years.
